The regional day didn’t start super for Isabel German.  A third-place vault of 11’6” in the PV which secured a spot in the MHSAA State Meet did not satisfy her as it wasn’t as high as she has been going, but that isn’t where the day ended.  German channeled her emotions and used it to press the pace in the 400m dash going end to end for the regional win winning it in 58.33.  The outcome took a minute for the timer to separate German and St Joseph’s Naia Dibkey as they went toe to toe the final 100m with the final difference being .02 seconds.  German’s time also moves her to #2 on the LHS board jumping ’03 graduate Natalie Kent and right behind ’13 grad Rachael Walters.

Lowell’s hurdler Leah Krieger faced a loaded field in both the 100 /300 hurdles with a goal of finally punching her ticket to the big meet.  In the 100H event Krieger went 15.77 which was good for 3rd but was just off the state AQ time needed.  Kreiger followed it up in the 300h with a time of 47.88 good for 4th.  In the field events there were two big PR’s as Piper Risdon tossed the discus 94’9” which was good enough for 9th place and Claire O’Boyle hit 4’8” on her third attempt in the HJ.

Next up for the Arrows is the Metro Health Scholarship meet on Tuesday @ Byron Center HS.

The State Meet is on June 1st at East Kentwood HS.
