Lowell Uses Strong Day 2 to Finish 3rd on OK White

Game Date
May 12, 2023

Throughout the regular season Lowell’s losses were all by small margins coming down to one event going one way or another. Because of that it was no surprise that the Arrows were in the top three teams throughout the conference meet.   Lowell used a strong 2nd day of the OK White Conference meet to stay in contention as there were four conference champions as well as scoring in five other events to tie GR Christian for 3rd place (two points behind EGR) in a meet won by FHC. Lowell tied for 3rd in the overall OK White (combining regular season and conference meet) w/ Byron Center which was not a surprise as Lowell beat them by 1 pt in the regular season.

Leah Krieger started the day off winning a controversy filled 100H setting a PR time of 15.85. Leah would follow-up the win with another PR and win in the 300H going 48.96. Annika and Katrina Sandman were up next in the 1600m running in the top three for the majority of the race as they went 3rd and 5th respectively. Annika would later win the 3200m title with a time of 10.55.64. Katrina would score points in the 800m taking 3rd and close the day with silver medalist honors in the 3200m. Isabel German lowered her 400m PR to under the minute mark going 59.80 to grab the title.   Isabel would close her day with a 3rd place finish in the 200m which capped a conference meet where she also took 2nd in PV and 5th in the 100m.

Lowell got some great scoring on Thursday as Aubriegh Oswald captured 2nd in the shot put and 6th in the discus. Leah Krieger threw out a 6” PR in the LJ going 15-8.50 which was good for 3rd , Brooklyn Wobma grabbed 4th in the PV, and Ivy Mcdonald set a new PR in the HJ going 4-10 which was good for 5th. The 3200m relay was the only running final on Thursday and the team of Annika Sandman, Audrey Latchaw, Jadyn Young, and Katrina Sandman went 10:05.50 to grab 4th place. The team’s time was less than 1 second off the school record.

All conference athletes were Leah Krieger, Annika Sandman, Isabel German, Katrina Sandman, and Aubriegh Oswald.

Lowell is off until Friday as they head to Portage for the MHSAA D1 regionals where the girls will try and punch their ticket to the state meet.
