Lady Arrows Finish 5th at MITCA State Meet
With last week’s regional victory the Lowell Girls T & F team earned the right to compete at the MITCA Team State Meet. This is significant as it is the first time that Lowell has earned this privilege as a D1 team and the first time it has earned the right at any level since 2002 as a D2 team. The Arrows took advantage of the invite as they hit some high marks and finished in 5th place among the 15 teams that accepted the invitation to the meet. What a great learning opportunity for Lowell as there were some big names in the meet including state leaders Rockford, Kentwood, and Macomb Dakota; and the Arrows fought hard throughout the meet. The highlight of the meet was seeing the 400m relay team of Kyra Snyder, Madison Brown, Julia Tuuri, and Diana Roth taking 5th as they set the school record of 50.45 which broke the school record set in 1995 by the team of Jansma, Gowen, Arnett, and Burrows. Individual highlights were seen in the HJ as Kaylee Diamond took 2nd in the HJ (5’3”) and 5th in the LJ (15-08.75), Theresa Judd taking 4th in the PV (9-09) and 5th in the 100H (16.25), and Haley Nieuwkoop taking 5th in the 3200m (12:08.09).
Other top ten finishes for Lowell were,
Kyra Snyder 200m 6th 26.81
Judd 300H 9th 50.83
Ashley Boehr 300H 10th 51.49
Roth 100m 10th 13.25
