Congratulations to our individual state qualifiers!
Colton Byrne -- 4th in slalom and 4th in GS
Preston Sobeck -- 9th in slalom
They will compete on Monday, Feb. 28th at Schuss Mountain. Best of luck to all!
The men's team took 6th place overall in Region 5 (with a 4th place finish in slalom).
There were 12 teams total at the Region 5 competition.

Arrows Lose: -
Lowell took on D1 Rockford and D2 Forest Hills Central and Northview on Tuesday night at Cannonsburg.
The night started off celebrating the 8 seniors and ended the night with Lowell taking 2nd in both the men's and women's GS and slalom races.
Congratulations and thank you to the eight seniors: Kaylee Byrne, Emma Schmidt, Preston Sobeck, Cole Lillie, Olivia Torline, Delaney Kelly, Isabella Schmidt and Elise Charron. Thank you for committing to having a Ski Team at LHS and setting a great groundwork for the future.
Kaylee and Colton Byrne swept first places finishes all around, followed up by Preston Sobeck taking 2nd in both GS and Slalom. Emma Schmidt had solid finishes with 4th in slalom and 6th in GS. Olivia Torline also had an 8th place finish in GS. On the men's side, Hunter Stepanovich took 9th in slalom and 10th in GS.

Our men's team had a 5th place team finish in GS and a 6th place in slalom against the entire Grand Rapids Conference (10 teams).

Last night the Ski Team went head-to-head with Division 1 Forest Hills Northeastern and Division 2 Catholic Central/West Catholic and Northview.
Forest Hills swept both GS and Slalom for the men's and women's teams, but our Red Arrow Team's battled for a 2nd place team finish in all races!
Bringing in points for the men's slalom:

Tonight the Red Arrow Varsity Ski Team took on Division 2 rivals: Grand Rapids Christian, Spring Lake and Northview.
Our men's team started off the season with a 1st place team finish in both GS and slalom!
Leading with points for the team were Colton Byrne with a 1st place finish in slalom with a strong lead of 2 seconds over the competition. Following up in 3rd was Preston Sobeck. Also bringing in points was Cole Lillie with an 8th place finish and Hunter Stepanovich in 9th place. The team just edged out Spring Lake by a 2 point lead followed by GRC and Northview.
In GS (giant slalom) Colton Byrne took 1st, Preston Sobeck in 4th, Hunter Stepanovich with a strong 6th place finish and Cole Lillie in 10th again edging out Spring Lake by just 1 point.
We also want to give a shout out to our newest team members, sophomore, Anders Melby and freshman Sam and Sophie Konyndyk. They all had an excellent first time on the race course and we are excited to see what they will bring to the team in the future!
The Red Arrows will take to the hill again next Tuesday, January 25th to take on Forest Hills North/Eastern, Catholic Central/West Catholic and Northview starting at 7:00pm. We then travel to Caberfae Peaks on Friday, January 28th for a whole conference race.
