Lady Arrows finish 7th sending two to States
Mixed emotions at the MHSAA regional meet as the wind and heat took its toll on athletes looking for a top two mark and or the automatic qualifying mark that they either hit or close throughout the year. In the end the Arrows saw one event winner, and ten events where athletes finished in the top 8. Kaylee Diamond went 5-04.00 which gave her the win and followed it up with a 17-08/75 mark in a tail wind aided LJ event. LADY ARROWS Finish 2nd at the OK White Conference Meet
Perfect weather, super venue, and great competition is what Lowell HS offered their OK White guests at the 2021 OK White T & F Conference Meet and the student athletes did not disappoint as multiple records went down in the two day event. EGR’s score of 154.5 bested the host Arrows as they used their state leading distance crew and three new OK White Conference Meet records to create the winning margin late in the second day. The Arrows saw two school records go down as Annika Sandman broke her 1600m and 3200m record with times of 5:15.21 (5th place) and 11:17.56 (4th place) and also saw 9 PR’s over the two day event. Kaylee Diamond was the lone Arrow event winner, and earned all-conference honors as she went 16-03 to win the long jump which followed up a 2nd place finish in the HJ where she went 5-02. Theresa Judd took advantage of two runner-up finishes in the 100H (15.51), 300H (48.81) and added a third place finish in the PV (10-06) to score 22 points and earn all-conference honors. Closing out the all-conference honors was Julia Tuuri as she earned enough points by taking a 2nd in the 100m (13.27), 6th in the 200m (28.15) and a couple of relays.
Lowell’s second place finish is one place higher than their 3rd place regular season finish and offered some redemption to the single point loss to FHC as they swapped spots at the conference meet. Total team scoring was the name of the game as the meet started strong on the opening day when Liberty Cook took silver medalist honors in the discus with a toss 88-11, and then followed it up with a 6th place throw in the shot put going 30-01.50. Kaylee Byrne was a double medalist taking 4th in the shot and 7th in the discus going 31-06.00 and 80.03 respectively. The Arrows used solid performances by their relay teams to round out the scoring as they were able to put fourteen additional points on the board.

Arrows Win: 113.00 - 24
LADY ARROWS Win at Greenville
Lowell used talent and depth in many areas to score 113 points and grabbing the “W” against Greenville to close out the OK White regular season at 6-2. Lowell won sixteen of the seventeen events and grabbed 8 runner-up honors to grab hold of the meet early and then just kept going to close out the meet. All Arrows seemed to be on their game as many of the JV runners ran, threw, or jumped a personal record as they prepare to compete in the OK White JV Conference meet on Monday at Christian HS. Kaylee Diamond and Theresa Judd had “perfect” days as they won the four events they were entered in with Diamond winning HJ, LJ, 200m and was anchor on the 800m relay team with Julia Tuuri, Madison Brown, and Jeselyn Spaulding; while Judd won the PV, 100H, 300H and anchored the 1600m relay team of Emily German, Jamara Harper, and Kaylee Byrne. Annika Sandman was another multi-event winner taking the 1600m, the 3200m run and anchoring the 3200m relay team with Katrina Sandman, Abby German, and Aurora Fredricks. Other meet winners were Julia Tuuri in the 100m 13.73, Jadan Sanders in the 400m 66.29, Katrina Sandman in the 800m 2:39.62, Liberty Cook in the discus 78-02, and the 400m relay team of Tuuri, Brown, Anna Seddon, and Grace Simkins.

Lowell Girls Earn 6th at GR Elite Invitational
The Arrows got to get a look at two of the top teams in the state of Michigan as Detroit Renaissance and Ann Arbor Pioneer headed to our side of the state to participate in the GR Elite Invitational. Lowell stay determined and used some top three finishes to earn 6th place out of the 14 team field. Lowell used a similar recipe to the guys team as they got high finishes in the HJ, hurdles, and distance to get the finish. LADY ARROWS Split with EGR and FHN
Great team effort by the Arrows as they battled their two biggest rivals in the OK White. At the end of the home meet Lowell ended up losing to EGR but getting the win against FHN to improve their record to 4-2 in the OK White. On paper both meets were close and the difference on the FHN win was getting the expected points and snagging some unexpected ones. The opposite was the story in the EGR meet as we probably left about eight points on the table although we got twenty PR’s on the day! Lowell had a strong advantage in the field events and hurdles which helped get the meet off to a great start and we scrapped to get the remaining points in all the other areas of the track.

LADY ARROWS Split with Northview and FHC
The Lady Arrows used strong field events, hurdles, mid-sprints, and distance to get a solid win against Northview but came 1pt shy of a win with the Rangers. The 1 point deficit makes one look where there was anything left on the tree but with the number of PR’s it looks like everything was left on the track. In addition to the PR’s there was some movement in the Lowell record board as Annika Sandman’s time in the 1600m #2 (5:24.14) moves her up from #4 (5:28.99) and her 3200m time is still #1 (11:22.77) but is a 7 second improvement from 11:29.79.
