Lowell Red Arrows Get First Loss of Season After Comeback Battle Called Due to Daylight

Game Date
Apr 17, 2019
Score
ARROWS: 3
KENOWA HILLS: 4

The Lady Red Arrows tremendous effort to come back from down four runs in the first inning came up just short, as they fell 4-3 to Kenowa Hills on Wednesday because of (lack of) day light. Lowell Red Arrows Varsity tallied three runs in the failed comeback. Madison Jordan, Allyson Lange, and Kenzie Jordan fueled the rally with RBIs. Madie Johnston started in the circle for Lowell and took the loss for the Red Arrows.  Johnston fell behind early in the loss giving up three hits in the first inning.  The hits combined with multiple first inning errors all piled up for 4 runs crossing the plate and became the Lady Red Arrows’ demise the remainder of the game.  Although, Lowell clawed back in it, they left 5 on base for a total of 13 left on base in the double header matchup. Corah Miller led Lowell Red Arrows Varsity with three hits in three at bats. Allyson Lange, Kenzie Jordan and Maddi Jordan all had an RBI in the loss.

Emily Depew almost notched the save after pitching a 5-inning shut out from the second on, allowing just 2 hits in the game.  Depew struck out six Kenowa batters after coming in to relieve Johnston.  Her performance on the mound to give her team a chance for the sweep was incredible, unfortunately the Arrow offense couldn’t produce before the sun went down and the game was called for light after the 6th inning.
