Varsity Softball Claims Blow Out Win Over Ionia Thanks To Sixth Inning Boost

Game Date
Mar 27, 2019
Score
ARROWS: 14
IONIA HIGH SCHOOL: 1

The Red Arrows jumped to a 3 run lead in the first inning, but a tough pitching showdown between the second to fifth inning held the Red Arrows to just one run in the second and fourth.  Impressively, Lowell adjusted and scored nine runs in the sixth on their way to a 14-1 victory at Ionia Wednesday evening.

The rally was led by home runs from Jenna Perry & Ally Lange.  That marks two home runs in as many games for senior, Ally Lange and two triples in as many games for senior pitcher, Emily Depew.  A perfectly executed suicide bunt by senior Corah Miller added the final nail in the coffin in the top of the sixth.

Lowell totaled an outstanding 12 hits in the game.  Krin Beach and Kylee Stephens each collected three hits to lead the Red Arrows; with Beach batting a perfect 1.000 on the night.  Krin Beach, Kylee Stephens, Allyson Lange and Jenna Perry all managed multiple hits. Lange with a triple and a home run in the game. Stephens once again led the team with two stolen bases. Along with Depew's second triple of the season came 3 more RBIs as Perry registered 3 RBIs on the night as well.

Depew moves to 2-0 on the season in the circle, lasting six innings, allowing just two hits and one run with an overwhelming 15 strikeouts! Lowell did not commit a single error in the field on the night.

The Lady Red Arrows travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama for Spring Training for a week with a stop for games on the way home in New Albany, Indiana.  They will then open conference play against Cedar Springs at home on April 10th.  Hope to see you all in the stands at the conference home opener.
