Lowell Varsity Red Arrows 2021 defeated Portland Raiders Varsity 4-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
Lowell fired up the offense in the second inning, when Ethan Post grounded out, scoring one run.
Zach Hayes was the winning pitcher for Lowell. The righty surrendered zero runs on four hits over five innings, striking out five and walking zero. Dixon threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Dixon recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Lowell.
Hayes led the Red Arrows with two hits in three at bats. Lowell stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kyle Teachworth led the way with two.
